Fun Facts About Veganism!
Fun Plant-Based Facts!
I love serving up delicious plant-based comfort food. Food that fills you up and makes you feel good.
I know that a diet free from animal products has so many benefits for you, the environment and the animals you save, but here are some fun facts you might not know about plant-based diets!
1. Vegetarianism = Higher IQ?
OK, so it’s not EXACTLY true, but it’s super interesting to know that a British study found that children with higher IQs were more likely to be vegetarians as adults. To test your veggie IQ check out the link below!

2. Vegetarian Men are Sexy!
Alright, this is a bit of a stretch (but definitely not false!). It IS true that research has shown that if a man avoids red meats, his body odor is more attractive! What man doesn’t want that?
3. Good Genes
We’re all born with certain genes that make us the amazing humans that we are, but did you know that plants have the power to turn certain genes off and on?
Nobel Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn has made some major discoveries about the positive effects of a plant-based diets on the telomeres of our DNA, which can in fact help to lengthen our lives. In an interview with The Guardian, Blackburn explains, “An enzyme called telomerase can add DNA to the ends of chromosomes to slow, prevent and partially reverse the shortening.”
A whole foods, plant based diet is one way to increase production of telomerase. In addition, meditation and positive thinking can help your body protect these precious telomeres to help you live a longer and happier life.

4. Even Ronald McDonald is Vegetarian Now
Geoffrey Giuliano, an actor who used to play Ronald McDonald has chucked those Happy Meals into the bin where they belong and traded them for the McVegan. The McVegan you say? Yes, yes we do. It’s actually a thing in Sweden and Finland. Apparently the launch was much more successful than originally predicted, with more than 150,000 sold in January along. Hopefully means we’ll be seeing more countries offering it soon!
You Can Solve World Hunger
Alright, again, a bit of a stretch. BUT we do know that there are way too many people in the world going hungry unnecessarily. Part of the problem is we feed animals a lot of food that could be used to feed people.
Each year enough grain and corn is grown to feed twice the global population! However, nearly 800 million people in the world do not to have enough food to eat.
If we all take small actions to reduce our consumption, the demand for animal products will start to decline. That means more resources will be available for the people you love and those in the generations that will follow.
